Celebrated late-night chefs Angus Brown and Nhan Le are about ready to launch their latest venture. 8 Arm, one of two projects in the works from the duo behind Octopus Bar, will open next week in Virginia-Highland, according to a post on Brown’s Instagram account. Brown and Le are currently in the process of filling out the staff.
Further details on a specific date and menu were not immediately available. Matt Mullins, who previously worked with Brown and Le at their now-shuttered Lusca, is in charge of the caffeinated beverages. Announcing the project in February, Brown said 8 Arm will offer breakfast and lunch fare to complement a “tight coffee menu.” In the evening, plans call for chef Andy Tran, another Lusca alum, to operate his Ramen Crush pop-up out of the space.
Update: Brown tells Eater Atlanta Tran will not be in the kitchen at 8 Arm as he is currently working on his own restaurant. Previously described as a coffeeshop, Brown says that isn’t accurate. 8 Arm will serve breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to midnight, and the patio bar will remain open until 2:30 a.m.
Brown and Le are also working on a restaurant around the corner from 8 Arm. Ama, focusing on wood-grilled seafood, is being installed at 716 Ponce De Leon Pl. NE. There’s no word on when it will begin service.
