Ever since Krog Street Market's Ticonderoga Club began selling spiedies — simple grilled chicken sandwiches on crusty sesame loaves — last October, they've made for one of the best lunch options in Atlanta. Well, all good things must come to an end. T-Club is doing away with lunch service and taking the spiedie off the menu at the end of this week.
"This was not a decision we took lightly, knowing the loyal following this deceptively simple sandwich has garnered," partner Bart Sasso said in an email to Eater Atlanta. "Dinner service is busier than ever and we've chosen to take a small step back so that we may take greater step forward. In order to serve growing crowds in the evening, and maintain the quality of food and service we're known for, we must reconfigure use of our limited space in the afternoon to support dinner and late night service."
The last day for spiedies is this Friday, September 9, though Sasso indicated they may return to the menu someday. But, the news isn't all bad. Barmen Greg Best and Paul Calvert will debut their fall cocktail list this Friday, and T-Club will extend weekend hours at the end of September.
"We will be opening earlier in the day on Saturdays, and transitioning brunch into cocktailing and then dinner on Sundays, to give afternoon market-goers yet another exciting option for food and drink," Sasso said.
