After a fire broke out following the end of service on Saturday, Chamblee’s Galaxy Diner is closed for the foreseeable future. No one was hurt in the incident, according to a statement posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
The Galaxy experienced a small kitchen fire this evening after we closed (everyone is safe). We are currently assessing the situation to determine how long it will take to get back up and running. Thank you to all the community members who took the time to check in on us already. And an extra special shout out to the amazing guys at the Dekalb County Firestation 19 for recusing our kitchen from the flames. Stay tuned!!!
There’s no word on how the fire started or just how much damage Galaxy Diner sustained. Calls to the restaurant went unanswered on Monday.
Located at 3320 Henderson Mill Rd., Galaxy Diner mixes traditional Southern diner staples with Italian, Greek, and Mexican fare.
Update: Proprietor Christina Lee tells Eater Atlanta the restaurant could be back in business soon: “We don't yet know when we will be open, but fingers crossed that it will be this week, barring any major set backs.”
