After a long wait, Atlanta can finally get a taste of The Halal Guys. The restaurant opens Saturday at 4929 Buford Hwy. in Chamblee. The business launched as a New York City street cart in 1990, and now it has evolved into a beloved nationwide chain. Plans for Atlanta expansion were first announced in 2015, and four more local outposts are in the works.
Diners can expect pita wraps and platters with chicken, beef gyro, and falafel. Regular hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. On opening day, the first 50 diners will receive a free entree platter and fountain drink, and the next 200 will receive a Halal Guys t-shirt. Grand-opening festivities will include live entertainment and a raffle with various prizes from The Halal Guys and its sponsors.
