Marietta resident Alton Brown is a Food Network icon, cookbook author, and touring machine. It sounds like he wants to add “coffee shop proprietor” to his resume. On Sunday, Brown posted the following tweet:
Hey #Marietta...we need a new coffee shop and I think I'm just the guy to open it.

Was this just hyperbole from a caffeine junkie frustrated with Marietta’s cafe scene? No. Reached for comment, Brown coyly confirmed his plans.
“It is my intention to open a coffee shop in Marietta, Ga., though I’m not at a point where I can release any details,” he said in an email to Eater Atlanta. “I can tell you this — no, no, I’ve said too much already.”
Brown has been busy lately. After releasing his latest book EveryDayCook last fall, he embarked on a 24-city tour. Future plans include a web series that will be reminiscent of his beloved Food Network show Good Eats, a new variety show for the network, new episodes of Iron Chef America, and a book about the difficulty of losing weight and keeping it off.
