Ladybird Owner Files Plans to Take Over the Old H. Harper Station Space

It appears the rumors are true. In September, tipsters with their ears to the ground indicated Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall owner Michael Lennox was taking over the former H. Harper Station space. Now, Lennox has official plans to renovate the building.

The project is called Golden Eagle, according to documents filed with the city of Atlanta on Friday, and it calls for “renovation of existing restaurant, both interior and exterior.” Construction is expected to cost $175,000. Further details were not immediately available, but in September, a tipster told Eater Atlanta the restaurant would be “a new concept, with a new name.” Lennox has not responded to multiple requests for comment.

This is Lennox’s second restaurant, and the location makes sense. He opened Ladybird adjacent to the BeltLine’s Eastside Trail in September 2014, and its patio and yard space have been packed with outdoorsy Atlantans ever since. The building that previously housed H. Harper Station sits at the intersection of Memorial Drive and the BeltLine’s expansion through Reynoldstown. Construction on this portion of the trail got underway last June.

H. Harper Station closed last April. Owner Jerry Slater cited increasing costs due to development in the area as reason for the shutter.
