— Bon Ton, a New Orleans-inspired seafood spot, will replace Top Flr in Midtown at 674 Myrtle St., Atlanta Magazine reports. An opening date is set for Tuesday, January 10. The restaurant is a collaboration among Darren Carr, who previously operated Top Flr at the space, Eric Simpkins of The Lawrence, and Hieu Pham of Crawfish Shack. Carr tells Atlanta Bon Ton will serve casual fare such as seafood boils, fried fish, and crab, all with Vietnamese influence.
Top Flr shuttered in October 2015. At the time, Carr said three new concepts would be coming to the address, but so far only Bon Ton has been announced.
— Kelz Crab House is certified open in Vine City at 899 Martin Luther King Dr. NW, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The teams behind Downtown eatery Kelz Kitchen and Savannah’s David’s Crab House are teaming up on the venture. Serving a variety of seafood, the new Kelz will initially operate as a to-go only business. Opening hours are 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
— Das BBQ began service last week at 1203 Collier Rd. in Westside. The new smokehouse is serving brisket and pulled pork by the pound, sausage by the link, and pork ribs by the rack. The menu also includes sandwiches and plates with traditional barbecue sides. Hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Das BBQ was first announced as a restaurant that would be a women-and-children-friendly barbecue spot, as if that’s a necessity. Fortunately, it appears that branding has been dropped.
