Rose + Rye, the restaurant that is moving into Midtown’s historic “Castle” mansion, will open to the public Tuesday, October 17, according to an announcement Wednesday afternoon.
Minnesota transplant Lindsay Owens will helm the kitchen as executive chef, turning out cuisine that’s been labeled as “American fare with a global reach.” It isn’t clear what all that entails, but dishes are expected to rotate often based on seasonal ingredient availability. A Caesar salad with smoked yogurt-parmesan dressing, tile cookie crumble, and soft-boiled, beet-soaked egg is being touted as one of the opening dishes. The full menu is still being finalized.
1 Kept Kitchen + Bar proprietor Thaddeus Keefe owns the forthcoming restaurant. The staff includes includes general manager Jessica Schilling (previously of STK Atlanta), assistant GM Seewai Sayavong (Nan Thai Fine Dining, Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft), sous chef Anu Adebara (Avalon Catering), and pastry chef Charity Everett (1 Kept)
Initial hours at Rose + Rye, which is located at 87 15th Street NE, are Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The restaurant will add lunch service on November 20, and brunch is expected to become available in January.
