Atlanta is getting a Nobu to call its own. The famed sushi restaurant and celeb hotspot with branches across the globe is headed to Buckhead.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that construction will begin this summer on a renovation and expansion to Phipps Plaza, which will include the flagship Nobu restaurant along with a 150-room Nobu hotel, a 12-story office tower, and a 90,000-square-foot Life Time Athletic fitness center. This is all happening in what is currently the site of a Belk store, which will close during the summer to make way for the Nobu Atlanta development.
It’s a renovation that’s reportedly more than $200 million and it will be phased, with completion wrapping up in 2020. Nobu’s CEO told AJC that he expects the restaurant to serve 800 to 1,000 guest checks a day. Nobu’s been adding to its empire this year, planting new locations in the U.S. and around the globe.
