Italian restaurant Bar Americano and coffee and aperitivo bar Bar Crema will officially open Wednesday, November 22 at 5 p.m. in the old Prohibition space at the former East Andrews Entertainment district in Buckhead.
The two new ventures from Brooks Cloud, Julian Goglia, and chef Mike Blydenstein who brought Atlanta The Pinewood and The Mercury come on the heels of the opening of Deep End in the Old Fourth Ward two weeks ago. The three restaurants together form a trifecta of the group’s passion for tacos, cocktails, and Italian food.
Bar Americano and Bar Crema have been in the works since shortly after the partners opened The Pinewood in Decatur nearly five years ago. It simply came down to finding the right real estate.
According to Cloud, the “moons aligned” at East Andrews earlier this year.
The kitchen at Bar Americano will be lead by chef Adam Waller, formerly of Bocado, and offer fresh takes on classic Italian dishes like eggplant and chicken parmesan, steak florentine, and cacio e pepe. A late-night lounge menu will take over after the dining room closes with small bites and pizzas. Lunch is expected to begin some time in the next few weeks.

As for cocktails, Goglia says he’s excited to bring aperitivos and Italian cafe culture to Atlanta, “The cocktails at both places will have an Italian theme but will include drinks people know and love. There will be slight twists on classics without making these drinks too unapproachable.”
Goglia says roughly 30 percent of the wines listed on the menu include bottles from small, family-owned wineries, many of which he and Cloud visited while traveling in Italy over the years.
Mornings begin at Bar Crema with Italian coffee and espresso, and food offerings like pastries and toasts. Throughout the day the food will shift to sandwiches, meats and cheeses, and gelato. Beer, wine, and aperitivos, including coffee cocktails, round out the drinks menu developed by beverage director John Fogleman, formerly of Octane Coffee. Bar Crema will stay open late for those seeking a quiet place to grab after-dinner drinks and wine.
Cloud believes Bar Americano and Bar Crema will fill a dining and drinking void in this area of Buckhead—an area known for dive bars, clubs, and pricey restaurants.
“We want to offer comfortable and casual yet refined dining. A place to relax any time of day with coffee, a cocktail, or even just popping in for some pasta and a great glass of Italian wine after work.”
