It looks like Buckhead is getting more coffee as Revelator’s newest Atlanta coffee shop ‘The Mourning Dove’ is slated to open its door Saturday morning at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta.
There are still a few finishing touches to be completed but the cafe is far enough along to soft open this weekend for coffee, tea, and non-alcoholic beverages. Food service is expected to begin Monday.
Revelator announced plans to take over the space formerly occupied by Corso Coffee when it shuttered in August. Eater Atlanta reported former Empire State South pastry chef Andrea Kirshtein was on board as the shop’s managing partner.
Josh Owen, the president of Revelator, said back in August, “The space has got a real kitchen, and we’re going to take advantage of it.”
Look for Kirshtein’s pastries, baked goods, and breads to be for sale as well as a small food menu with dishes like potato pancakes with fresh cured salmon, toad in the hole, and carrot tomato shakshuka.
The coffee program at The Mourning Dove will be similar to other Revelator cafes and will include fresh smoothies. Once the liquor license is approved, expect to see a cocktail menu designed by Revelator’s beverage director Shanna Mayo (formerly of Leon’s Full Service and Amer) and a small beer and wine list.
The Mourning Dove’s hours this weekend will be 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Next week the cafe will continue with abbreviated hours, 6:30 a.m to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Regular hours will likely begin next weekend and are as follows: Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
