Fans of the Clermont Lounge will have to wait a little longer before visiting Peaches, Blondie, and the rest of the dive bar/strip club’s legendary dancers. Upon temporarily shuttering for renovations on January 1, the Clermont originally expected to open “on February 15thish.” Now the relaunch has been pushed back until at least April, according to a Facebook post.
With the Clermont’s dancers out of work even longer than expected, a GoFundMe crowdsourcing campaign has been set up to help. “For our dancers, this is their only income and having to be shut down for several weeks impacts them and their families,” reads an official statement. “In many cases, these women are the sole providers and are having a hard time making through without income.”
As of this posting, 16 people have pledged $460 toward a $5,000 goal. The GoFundMe effort comes after the Clermont dancers hosted a charity car wash at B3 Bar & Grill in Austell.

The Clermont Lounge, which sits in the basement of the old Clermont Motor Hotel at 789 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE, is closed while renovations are made to the hotel. Dormant for years, the business will relaunch as a boutique lodging destination. Despite Atlanta’s propensity for tearing down iconic institutions for shiny, new developments, developers have promised the late-night entertainment venue will remain open.
