Georgia restaurateur, cookbook author, and Top Chef judge Hugh Acheson is opening his next dining venture at the home of the Braves. First & Third Hot Dog and Sausage Shack is planned for SunTrust Park, the Atlanta Braves’ brand-new, soon-to-open Cobb County stadium, according to a Thursday announcement. It will be accessible from inside the ballpark and the adjacent Battery mixed-use development.
At First & Third, Acheson’s team will serve a selection of “high-quality sausages and hot dogs,” with most proteins sourced from Patak Meats in Austell. The full menu has not been revealed, but it will include andouille and merguez sausages along with “elevated ballpark classics.” The sausage stand is on track to open this April.
Acheson’s name is already attached to another restaurant coming to The Battery. Punch Bowl Social, a Southern-inspired dining and gaming chain (a la Dave & Buster’s) boasts the chef as “culinary partner.”
In addition to Acheson’s new venture, The Battery announced the addition of a cigar bar called Burn by Rocky Patel, which will purportedly be “a sanctuary for those who enjoy fine cigars and premium spirits.” And the development has frozen yogurt on board in the form of a Haagen-Dazs outlet. Officials at The Battery have laid out an estimated opening timeline for several forthcoming restaurants:
