Jarrett Stieber’s Eat Me Speak Me Pop-Up Is Moving to The SOS Tiki Bar

A Thai pop-up will take over weekends at Gato

Having outgrown its current home, Eat Me Speak Me is changing locations and expanding service. Chef Jarrett Stieber’s pop-up will move to The SOS Tiki Bar in downtown Decatur on Wednesday, April 19. From that point forward, Stieber and his crew will run the kitchen five days a week.

“SOS will still be operating as it currently is, running the front of house operations and executing their beverage program,” Stieber tells Eater Atlanta. “EMSM will be running our full food operation out of their kitchen so you can have our dishes while you drink their drinks. Or just have our food. Or just have their drinks. We’re not the bosses of you, we’re just trying to make you happy!”

Eat Me Speak Me has been a fixture at Gato in Candler Park since 2014, offering dinner on weekends. At The SOS, Stieber’s food will be available Wednesday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday service will be what Stieber calls late-riser’s brunch, “for hungover people sleeping in, featuring some happy hour-type drink specials and our usual food menu with an ‘unnecessary egg’ upcharge option for each dish.”

The big move comes a couple months after Stieber partnered with Chrome Yellow Trading Co. to serve some Eat Me Speak Me-branded soups, salads, and sandwiches at the Old Fourth Ward coffee shop. He says The SOS’s kitchen provides the necessary storage space to keep up with production for five days of service plus the Chrome Yellow partnership.

As for Gato, the tiny diner is not being left in the lurch. Owner Nicholas Stinson is eying some renovations to the dining room that should be completed by the end of summer. And, a new project is already on deck to immediately fill Eat Me Speak Me’s void. Chef Parnass Lim Savang, who has spent time in the kitchens at Kimball House and Staplehouse, will take over the kitchen for his Market pop-up, Friday through Sunday. Full details weren’t immediately available, but Stieber says it will be a destination for “badass Thai food.”
