We Love BuHi and the Southern Foodways Alliance Partner to Tell Buford Highway Stories

It’s the SFA’s 2017 oral-history project

We Love BuHi, the burgeoning organization that celebrates all things Buford Highway, and the Southern Foodways Alliance, champion of Southern cuisine, are partnering on a new documentary series. This oral-history project will tell the stories of people living and working along Buford Highway, according to an official announcement.

Interviews will commence during the SFA’s oral-history workshop in July. Participants who are “new or moderately new to oral history methods and fieldwork.” The goal is to share Buford Highway stories “in responsible and respectful avenues” and “support and promote a sustainable community that remains diverse and welcoming.” Undergraduate and graduate students, professors, educators, and SFA members are eligible to participate in the workshop. The resulting interviews and photographs will show how foodways can “open the door to life stories and experiences.”
