In his eponymous television series that dominated ratings in the 1990s, comedian Jerry Seinfeld appeared in countless scenes set in the fictional Monk’s Cafe. It turns out Home Grown may be the Atlanta version of Monk’s. Seinfeld was in town to play the Fox Theatre on Friday, and before the show he took in lunch at the Reynoldstown diner.

A Home Grown employee tells Eater Atlanta Seinfeld ordered spooner soup: white meat chicken, onions, celery, carrot, spinach, and fresh peas served with pimento cheese toast. He was joined by fellow comedian Mario Joyner, whom Seinfeld obsessives might remember as Maroon Golf from “The Puerto Rican Day.” The master of observational humor did not want to pose for photos with fans, but he was kind enough to sit facing the restaurant’s dining room so stealthy snapshots could be taken.

While the visit to Home Grown appears to have been a simple meal, perhaps Seinfeld found the restaurant charming enough to include in his hit web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. One can dream.
