Avalon has lured another intown Atlanta restaurant to the norther suburbs. South City Kitchen will open its fourth outpost at the Alpharetta mixed-use development, reports the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The restaurant will be installed as part of The Hotel at Avalon, and it’s expected to open in early 2018.
In 1993, Fifth Group Restaurants opened the first South City Kitchen in Midtown. The company added a Vinings location in 2006, and it expanded the brand to Buckhead last year. At Avalon, South City Kitchen will reportedly take up a 6,000-square-foot space designed by local firm The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry, and a patio will overlook Avalon Boulevard.
“We are creating one environment where the lobby of the hotel and edge of the restaurant bar will transition into one space,” Fifth Group partner Robby Kukler told the ABC. “We think now is a good time and it’s a good fit for Avalon.”
The announcement comes on the same day that Avalon’s latest expansion is opening to the public. Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar, from the team behind craft beer and wine superstore Hop City, and chef Marc Taft’s Brine Seafood Shack are among the new restaurants coming online.
South City Kitchen serves Southern staples such as pan-fried chicken livers, shrimp and grits, and plates with local and seasonal vegetables. Fifth Group also operates La Tavola Trattoria (an Italian concept), Ecco (continental European), The Original El Taco (Tex-Mex), Alma Cocina (Mexican), and Lure (seafood).
