Upper Room Moves to Decatur; David Sweeney Heads Back to Tiger Mountain

There’s a new executive sous chef at Taiyo Ramen

DECATUR Upper Room, the weekly Filipino pop-up from chef Andrew Bantug and his girlfriend, Joyce Lau, is changing venues. Serving out of Buckhead Japanese restaurant Tomo since November, Upper Room will move to Taiyo Ramen (formerly Makan) in downtown Decatur, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The change comes because Bantug is now on board as Taiyo’s executive sous chef. The pop-up will continue to operate on Sunday evenings.

RABUN COUNTY — For the second year in a row, former Dynamic Dish chef-owner David Sweeney will run the kitchen Tiger Mountain Winery’s Red Barn Cafe in north Georgia. Seasonal service begins with a lunch and jazz brunch Saturday, April 29, and Sunday, April 30. Regular weekend hours — Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. — begin May 5. Red Barn is open through November.
