Nakato Is Offering Free Sushi Rolls to Ease the Pain of Atlanta Traffic

Since the collapse and closure of I-85 is making Atlantans’ rush-hour commute even more of a headache than normal, Nakato wants to help ease the pain. The Buckhead Japanese restaurant is now giving out complementary California rolls with purchases of $20 or more, Monday through Friday between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Mention “traffic fix” to get the free sushi.

In addition to the freebie, Nakato has come up with a new menu item to pay tribute to firefighters who put out the massive blaze that wrecked the interstate. Through the end of April, the restaurant will serve a first responders roll and donate $5 from every purchase to Rescue Station No. 29, Nakato’s local firehouse. The roll is made of lobster tempura, shiso leaf, and Japanese aioli surrounded by spicy snow crab and masago caviar.

Nakato isn’t the only restaurant offering hot deals following the disaster. Through April 14, fast-food chicken chain Chick-fil-A is serving free breakfast items to weekday commuters who take extra vehicles off the road by carpooling.
