Sandy Springs is getting a new fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant, and if all goes according to plan, it will be the first location for a burgeoning chain. Shami Kitchen, from Westside Market owner Abe Malla, is on track to open next month at 8363 Roswell Road.
Abud Halabi who has experience at restaurants in Syria and China, will serve as executive chef, according to a Friday announcement. Like so many fast-casual spots these days, the menu will allow diners to choose their own adventures. They’ll start with a base of pita, rice, or salad bowl and add a choice of protein (chicken or beef shawarma or falafel) and two sides. Pita, tahini sauce, pickles, or hot sauce mix will be served with each dish. Mediterranean staples such as hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouli, and purple cabbage will be on the menu as well.
Further details on the restaurant’s expansion were not immediately available, but Halabi intends to open more locations “in the coming years.” Once the Sandy Springs original is in business, Shami Kitchen will serve lunch and dinner six days a week, and it will be available for catering.
