Atlanta has seen a variety of theme restaurants open over the years, but an incoming dining room centered around the concept of school may be a first. Public School 404 debuts in Westside next Monday, May 8, at 930 Howell Mill Road.
The restaurant is part of the California-based Public School On Tap chain, which has Golden State outposts in Los Angeles, Culver City, Thousand Oaks, and Sherman Oaks, along with locations in Dallas; Denver; Las Vegas; and Addison, Texas. Public School’s Atlanta expansion was first announced in October 2015.
Design of the space, which covers 4,863 square feet of the Brady mixed-use development, "evokes nostalgic memories of an urban classroom through the use natural materials juxtaposed with refined chrome furniture and light fixtures," according to the initial announcement. The menu sticks to modern American gastropub fare, with dishes such as bacon-cheddar tots with Sriracha ketchup, a barbecue bison burger, and a Thai noodle salad. Look for plenty of house cocktails and craft beer on tap.
Regular hours and the Public School 404-specific menu were not immediately available.
