Celebrity Chef Jonathan Waxman Is Coming to Ponce City Market for a Book Signing and Dinner

— Jonathan Waxman, the New York-based celebrity chef who helped make California cuisine famous in the 1980s, is coming to Ponce City Market for a cookbook signing and dinner. On Tuesday, May 23, Waxman will hold court at Williams-Sonoma and Brezza Cucina, his Central Food Hall Italian restaurant.

Beginning at 7 p.m., the chef will sign copies of his latest book, Italian, My Way, at the upscale kitchen supply store. Passed hors d'oeuvres will be available as well. At 8 p.m., the party will move next door to Brezza Cucina for a four-course dinner with rosé pairings. The event is $80 per person, which includes a copy of Waxman’s book, and registration is available online or by calling (404) 724-9700. Twenty percent of all Brezza Cucina sales on May 23 will be donated to Community Farmers Markets, which “operates farmers markets across the city of Atlanta and works tirelessly to increase access to fresh produce.”

— John T. Edge, founder of the Southern Foodways Alliance, is planning a book signing for his latest work at the Highland Inn ballroom on Monday, May 22. Beginning at 7 p.m., Edge will offer a reading from The Potlikker Papers: A Food History of the Modern South, which is billed as “a people’s history that reveals how Southerners shaped American culinary identity and how race relations impacted Southern food culture over six revolutionary decades.”

Tickets for the event, available online, are $45, and they include a signed, first-edition copy of The Potlikker Papers and tastings from numerous local restaurants. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Global Growers, a non-profit organization that works to “increase the number of food producers who create access to healthy, sustainably grown food and also to prepare farmers to be competitive in their local marketplace.”
