Whole Foods Market will debut The Roast, the company’s first full-service restaurant in the Southeast, at its Midtown store next Thursday, June 1. The restaurant is adjacent to the renovated and expanded Whole Foods located at 650 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE, according to an official announcement.
The Roast will serve daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., offering Brazilian churrasco fare in a fast-casual environment (look for digital ordering kiosks). In addition to set menu items, diners will have the option to build their own bowls by choosing from a list of proteins, sautéed greens, grains, and sauces. A rotating roster of local chefs will collaborate on seasonal dishes, and Kevin Gillespie of Gunshow and Revival fame is kicking things off. His “flavors of the Andes” bowl is made of Peruvian red chicken served over roasted Peruvian purple potatoes and golden beets with Aji Amarillo pepper sauce, roasted peanuts, and fresh mint.
The Roast will have a separate bar menu available during evening hours, and beer, wine, cocktails, and sodas will be available on tap. The space has seating for roughly 48 people and includes a separate room offering entertainment in the form of DJs and billiards.
