Clermont Lounge Reopening Delayed Again as Construction Continues

The upstairs hotel is being renovated

Thanks to more construction delays, world famous dive bar/strip club/dance hall the Clermont Lounge won’t reopen this month, after all. The Clermont had been hoping to return to life on May 1, but the renovation project to the upstairs Clermont Hotel continues to drag behind schedule. Now, the target has been moved to June.

The Clermont has been closed since January 1. The original reopening date was set for “February 15ish,” before being pushed back to April, then May. In the meantime, Blondie, Peaches, and the rest of the lounge’s dancers have been out of work. Patrons have been supporting them via charity car washes and a GoFundMe campaign.

The ongoing restoration project will transform the Clermont Hotel, which opened in 1924 and has been boarded up since 2009, into modern, boutique lodging. Even with the beautification project, the seedy lounge below will continue to operate.
