Chamblee-based Hopstix brewpub and Third Rail Studios are set to release a beer collaboration on June 30 to benefit re:imagine/ATL; local non-profit supporting young filmmakers, photographers, musicians, and media-minded storytellers.

Third Rail Ale is the first of many partnerships between Andy Tan, Hopstix, and local businesses around metro Atlanta. The beer is described as a Thai-inspired Belgian Witbier “brewed with fresh orange peels, lemon grass, galangal root and lime leaves.” Tan said he wanted to capture the melting pot the Chamblee community has become with this beer while supporting the area’s growing arts scene.

“Hopstix strives to be a place where community members can come together over fresh food and great beer, and this partnership (with Third Rail Studios) is a great story on two local companies coming together in recognition of the arts,” Tan said.

The collaboration began when a friend introduced Tan to Dan Rosenfelt, the president of operations for Third Rail Studios, who was having lunch at Hopstix one afternoon. The studio is located a mile from the restaurant in Assembly Yards. Rosenfelt became a regular and the two struck up a friendship over their love for craft beer.

Tan told Eater Atlanta, “We both wanted to get more involved with our surrounding community. We decided supporting a local arts organization through the sales of one of my beers would be a great way to do that.”

Third Rail Ale will be on tap until it runs out beginning June 30 with 20% of its sales going to benefit re:imagine/ATL. As for those future partnerships, Tan is already in talks with 2FunGuys, a local mushroom growing company, for an event called “Brewed and Grown in Chamblee” to take place later this summer. He says he is also looking into hosting a Chamblee beer festival.

Third Rail Studios is currently filming New Line Cinema’s monster movie “Rampage” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
