Jenny Levison, the woman behind local healthy-dining empire Souper Jenny, and Linda Harrell, executive chef of Cibo e Beve and Food 101, are partnering on a two-night pop-up that will celebrate Israeli cuisine. Appropriately titled “Ode to Israeli Cuisine,” the dinners will take place on Thursday, August 10, at Souper Jenny Westside and Thursday, August 24, at Food 101 in Sandy Springs.
Each meal is $50 per person and will begin at 7 p.m. The menus will cover a wide selection of Israeli appetizers, shareable entrees, sides, and desserts. Among the dishes that Levison and Harrell will prepare:
- Hummus
- Carrots with preserved lemon and cumin
- Fried cauliflower with herb labneh
- Fried kibbe
- Israeli salad with mango, cucumber and onion
- Lamb shishlik with pistachio tahini
- Grilled branzino over chickpea stew
- Green beans with beluga lentils, mushrooms and garlic chips
- Persian rice
- Summer tomato salad
- Roasted eggplant with yogurt and pomegranate
- Chef Michael Solononov's gluten-free “chocolate-almond situation”
- Poppy seed cake with blueberries and labneh
- Warm chocolate babka
A portion of proceeds will benefit The Zadie Project, Levison’s charity that feeds soup to children and families in need. Tickets are available online or by calling (404) 497-9700.
