Elliott Moss, pitmaster at buzz-worthy Asheville smokehouse Buxton Hall Barbecue, is coming to Atlanta for a collaborative dinner with chef Jarrett Stieber’s Eat Me Speak Me pop-up on Sunday, July 23. After initially announcing the date for Moss’ visit, Stieber has shared more details.
The dinner at The SOS Tiki Bar in Decatur will run from 5 p.m. until the chefs are out of food. Stieber and Moss will serve an a la carte menu, which will be developed based on available local ingredients and will be finalized closer to the event. “We’re gonna get weird and have some fun with it,” Stieber tells Eater Atlanta. Moss may look beyond smoked meats for his contribution to the meal. “We aren't forcing him to do barbecue if he doesn't want to,” Stieber says.
Athens-based Creature Comforts will provide a keg of Abstract, the brewery’s rare black lager. Creature Comforts is brewing eight kegs of the beer, and only four will make their way to Atlanta.
“I've been a fan of Elliott's cooking for the better part of decade, ever since first eating his food at The Admiral [in Asheville],” Stieber says. “More than that, I've been fortunate enough to call him a friend and colleague through that time. This is the first chance we've gotten to collaborate since he opened Buxton Hall, whose wild success speaks for itself, and we couldn't be more excited to host him. Creature Comforts being super cool and slinging us one rare AF kegs of Abstract is just the icing on the cake.”
