Miami-based Bulla Gastrobar will open its first restaurant outside the state of Florida in Midtown next month. Bulla is currently staffing up as it prepares for an August debut.

The restaurant first announced plans for Atlanta expansion back in June 2016, but details have been scarce since. Bulla, which is pronounced “boo-ya,” claims to offer an atmosphere that is somehow both lively and laid back, according to a press release. Three Sunshine State outposts are already in operation in Coral Gables, Doral, and Winter Park.

The menu hasn’t been finalized, but a look at offerings from Bulla’s original Coral Gables location reveals a wide selection of cured meats, cheeses, and small plates. And for those who are not on board with the modern tapas craze, larger plates such as paella, conchinillo (suckling pig, oyster mushrooms, ajo perejil), and rabo de toro (braised oxtail, shishito peppers, bomba rice) are available too.

Bulla will take up a two-level space at the Sixty 11th apartment tower — located at 60 11th Street NE, obviously — and it will feature a massive 1,500-square-foot patio and outdoor bar. An exact opening date has not been determined, but firm plans are expected soon.
