Cat lovers will soon have two places in Atlanta to sip coffee, pet kitties, and, if they so choose, give one lucky feline a forever home.

After the opening of Grant Park’s Java Cats Cafe in March, Happy Tabby Cat Cafe, who debuted its plans to open their coffee shop and cat shelter on Irwin Street in 2015, announced they would be opening their doors later this year.

That time has finally arrived.

Owner April Hill took to Instagram Thursday afternoon to announce this weekend’s soft opening of the cafe to a limited number of guests and Kickstarter supporters.

As of Thursday evening, the cafe had already hit 70% capacity for the weekend due to early booking slots offered first to their Kickstarter supporters. “We have 17 cats, and everyone is encouraged to make an appointment through our acuity page but we will take walk-ins,” Hill told Eater Atlanta via email.

She says all cats coming from FurKids (a no-kill shelter) will be available for same-day adoption.

For now, the cafe will only be open on the cat side. Bottled beverages and prepackaged snacks will be available for purchase beginning Friday morning.

There is no word on an official opening date at this time.

Soft opening hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Ages 8+
