Georgia Beer Garden Is a Destination for Local Brews in Sweet Auburn

A look at the bar in action on a Friday night

Georgia Beer Garden has been pouring cold pints in Sweet Auburn since November 2016. It took more than two years for owners Brandon Ley and Johnny Martinez to transform the former Edgewood Animal Clinic into a craft beer destination, but the wait was worth it for enthusiasts of local brews. The watering hole boasts a rotating selection of more than 100 beers and ciders from the state of Georgia.

Ley and Martinez, who also operate Joystick Gamebar across the street, plan to debut a food program to complement the beer this fall, but in the mean time, they’re partnering with 95th Street Tacos. The pop-up serves “LA-style” tacos out of Georgia Beer Garden’s backyard on Saturday nights and some Fridays, specializing in carne asada.

Georgia Beer Garden, located at 420 Edgewood Avenue SE (the owners love that street number), is open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to midnight. Scope the photos below for a look at the bar in action on a recent Friday evening.
