Bizarre Foods host Andrew Zimmern recently ate his way through Atlanta, and a couple of local restaurants might be featured in his new Travel Channel series. Zimmern took to Twitter and Instagram to heap praise on The General Muir and Miller Union.
At The General Muir in Emory Point, Zimmern discovered what appears to be the restaurant’s Maven platter, which includes lox (salt-cured salmon), nova (smoked salmon), sable, and baked salmon salad. He called the dish “smoked fish heaven.”
And at Miller Union, whose chef Steven Satterfield just claimed the James Beard award for Best Chef: Southeast, Zimmern dined on some Southern staples: fried chicken on a tomato and bean salad and a field pea salad. Zimmern proclaimed the latter dish to be “brilliance.”
The new show, titled The Zimmern List, will showcase some of the chef’s favorite restaurant dishes. He hasn’t officially revealed plans for an Atlanta-centric episode, and Travel Channel has not announced a premiere date, but at least one local sleuth has spotted AZ and his crew. Considering the timing of the meals, some Zimmern List love for The General Muir and Miller Union may be a good bet. Stay tuned.
