Whole Foods Market will open a new location complete with specialty coffee and local barbecue in Kennesaw next month. The upscale, but now more affordable, grocery store will debut on Friday, October 6, at 1300 Ernest Barrett Parkway.
Birmingham-based Revelator Coffee Company, which recently acquired Atlanta’s own Octane, will operate a coffee bar out of the store. Smoked meats, sauces, and spices from Marietta’s Williamson Bros. Bar-B-Q will be available, as well. A fast-casual Japanese restaurant called Tori Bird by Genji will serve sushi and karaage, Japanese fried chicken tossed in sauces such as yuzu citrus mayo, and “classic Texas BBQ.” Hops ‘n’ Sauce, a separate in-store restaurant, will be a barbecue and beer destination for shoppers.
The opening of Whole Foods Kennesaw will mean the shutter of nearby Harry’s Farmers Market in Marietta, which Whole Foods acquired in 2001. Harry’s Alpharetta location, made famous by Alton Brown on Good Eats, shuttered in 2014 to make way for a Whole Foods store at the Avalon mixed-use development.
Whole Foods will host a block party at its new store on Saturday, September 30 to celebrate the opening. Registration is available online.
