A new venture from some Atlanta pizza veterans is in the making for south Buckhead on Howell Mill Road. Howell’s is the latest venture from Jeff Newsham and chef Rob Phillip, who previously collaborated on Atwoods Pizza, Hearth Pizza Tavern, and Camps Kitchen & Bar.
The restaurant will be will housed in new construction at 1952 Howell Mill Road, near the intersection with Collier Road.
Phillip, in his role as executive chef, is curating a menu that will be centered around pizzas, including a white clam linguica, as well as pastas and dishes with various global influences. Expect items such as lamb gyro dumplings, curry caramel popcorn, and chopped salads as appetizers. The restaurant will smoke its own brisket for a sandwich, and entrees will include smoked baby back ribs, salmon filet, and steak frites.
Tom McGuire, formerly of Proof and Provision, Burn Social Club and Craft Izakaya, will oversee the beverage program.
Howell’s will serve lunch, dinner, and brunch. Hours of operation will be Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.
Newsham tells Eater Atlanta the team is excited about serving the residents in the immediate area, who are in between the dining destinations of Buckhead and Westside, but currently don’t have an approachable, comfortable neighborhood spot of their own.
Howell’s is currently targeting a November opening.
