Celebrated rib joint Fat Matt’s, which regularly garners placement on national barbecue listicles and is name-dropped in Hollywood movies, caught fire Monday evening, resulting in a partial roof collapse. Fortunately for devotees of the Piedmont Heights restaurant, the dining room was not affected, reports 11 Alive.
The fire reportedly broke out in Fat Matt’s catering building, which is separate from the main restaurant. No one was injured, and Fat Matt’s announced plans to open for business as usual on Tuesday with a simple statement posted on Facebook: “See ya tomorrow folks!”
The cause of the fire has not been reported.
Fat Matt’s opened for business in 1990 and regularly sees lines out the door. The restaurant’s operating hours are Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
