Sparkling water fans will now have a local choice in the grocery store’s carbonated beverage aisle. Montane sparkling spring water out of Pine Mountain, Georgia has inked a deal with Publix Supermarkets to carry the locally-sourced and canned fizzy water at select stores throughout the state and the Southeast.
Montane burst onto the sparkling water scene in Atlanta last year when founder Hollis Callaway (from the family behind Callaway Gardens) debuted his flavored, carbonated beverages at in-town markets like Star Provisions and restaurants such as Muchacho.
The water is sourced from Blue Springs, “a cold, deep quartzite spring” in Pine Mountain Ridge over an hour south of Atlanta near the famed resort and nature preserve. The Callaway’s have owned and protected the natural spring since the 1930s.
Once the water is drawn from the spring, Callaway simply adds carbonation and natural flavoring. Montane is available in three fizzy varieties: original, cucumber lime, and meyer lemon honeysuckle.

Another new partnership with Georgia beverage distributor Savannah Distributing Co. allows Montane to continue to broaden its reach in Atlanta by adding more restaurants, bars, and convenience stores to its client roster.
“These opportunities are a response to the great enthusiasm Montane has received from consumers in our short time span of being on the market,” Callaway said via press release.
