The Local Pizzaiolo opens Tuesday, January 23 in the former Bellwood’s Social House space next door to 5 Seasons Brewing in Westside. A grand opening celebration is planned from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. Pizza master and owner Giulio Adriani will serve free pizza to those who make a $2 donation to either Atlanta Community Food Bank or No Kid Hungry.
The menu offers traditional Neapolitan pizzas like the classic margherita as well as three gluten free options such as the Puttanesca with crushed tomatoes, Kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and capers. Adriani has also created a selection of signature pizzas for the restaurant including the spicy Dante’s Kiss with crushed tomatoes, soppressata, and jalapenos and a pie with a local twist aptly named The Local in collaboration with Heirloom Market BBQ. That pizza consists of aged provolone, beef brisket, cipollini onions, and smoked, hot honey.
A short list of beer and wine is available along with four draft cocktails like a negroni and an espresso martini.
Adriani, who grew up in Rome, Italy and learned to make Neapolitan pizzas from his grandmother, is a four-time world pizza making champion. The Montanara (listed on the opening menu) with flash fried dough, Ciliegino tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh basil, and parmesan is the said to be the reason for the approval of Adriani’s green card in 2011.
Adriani has three more Atlanta locations planned in Toco Hills, Sandy Springs, and the Madison Yards development in Reynoldstown.
