The Cheesecake Factory opening European cafe
The California-based chain restaurant known for its lengthy catalog of cheesecakes and all-American food menu is opening its first Georgia location of Grand Lux Cafe at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead this summer. According to the press release, the cafe will mix “the grandeur and luxury of European cafes with the sensibilities and spirit of an all-American restaurant.” Think double-stuffed potato spring rolls, lettuce wraps, and volcano shrimp. More doughnuts for Atlanta
Fancy doughnut shops seem to be opening everywhere around Atlanta, and here’s one more. Tomorrow’s News Today reports Las Vegas-based franchise The Dapper Doughnut will open its first Atlanta location in March at Lenox Square Mall. The doughnut kiosk, located between Five Guys and The Farmer’s Basket in the food court, will serve mini cake doughnuts with a variety of topping options. Newk’s Eatery opening at Howell Mill Kroger complex in Westside

High school musical in honor of Publix founder
Georgia isn’t the only state with a passion for Publix. Last week, a Lakeland, Florida high school principal named Daryl Ward honored the supermarket chain’s founder George W. Jenkins in an unusual way.
