Hot Melody Chinese opened last Thursday, September 27, in the former Chef Liu space on Buford Highway. The new restaurant serves a combination of Chinese-style barbecue and hot pots, and has completely transformed the interior of the long-standing dumpling staple in Pinetree Plaza.

Not much is known about the menu other than what a handful of Yelpers are reporting. One reviewer gave a detailed account of their meal and was impressed with the personal-sized hot pots and choice of broths — like “spicy butter numbing” — as well as the hot pot sauce and toppings bar.

Another Yelper posted a photo of the barbecue side of the menu and recommended ordering the lamb leg and cured pork belly with Chinese sauerkraut along with the Sichuan-style hot pot. Some tables seem to be equipped with small griddles to cook meats, seafood, and vegetables to order.

Hot Melody is open seven days a week until 1 a.m., adding to the growing list of late night dining options along Buford Highway.
