Our Way Cafe, a longtime meat-and-three located in the Twin Oaks shopping center, is closing after 30 years in Avondale Estates, Decaturish reports. The owner, Eva-Marie Roswall, is retiring. The cafe closes after service, or until the food runs out, on Thursday, October 25.
A note taped to the door reads, “Our Way Cafe will be open on Wednesday and Thursday with Kady, Al Al, and Eva. 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Please come by and say goodbye. It has been a great 30 years!”
Our Way Cafe is typical of the meat-and-threes scattered around the Southeast — a homey, cafeteria-style restaurant with friendly servers and plates piled high with Southern proteins like fried chicken, salmon loaf, and country fried steak, alongside starchy vegetables such as sweet potato casserole, butter beans, carrots, and mac and cheese.
The cafe is known for its barbecue pork, meatloaf, and Southern-style casseroles.
The property is currently up for lease and all of the kitchen equipment up for sale. Our Way Cafe is located a little over a mile outside of downtown Decatur.
