Marietta’s Red Sky Tapas & Bar is hosting its own holiday pop-up beginning Tuesday, November 20 through New Year’s Eve during the restaurant’s regular business hours. As OTP’s lone holiday bar, it’s seen the success of in-town Atlanta’s gaudy Christmas bars, Miracle on Monroe and The S.O.S Tiki Bar, and wants in on the action. The theme of the bar, known for tapas and weekly, dueling piano shows, is inspired by the 1980s, holiday classic A Christmas Story.
Red Sky Tapas isn’t giving away too much regarding the bar’s over-the-top decor, but expect icicle lights throughout the covered patio and an “Instagram-worthy, kitschy” photo area. Apparently, each space in the restaurant has its own unique holiday story to tell, but will all tie together with the overall theme. No word yet if the turkey-stealing Bumpus hounds will run through the dining room or if Mr. Parker’s tantalizing prize — the sexy leg lamp — will be prominently displayed.
“We’ve seen holiday pop-ups of this kind in Midtown Atlanta, Buckhead and Decatur, and we thought, ‘why not here?’ We could not be more excited to introduce East Cobb’s first and only holiday pop-up bar,” owner Terry Kirby says in the press release. “Throughout the year, our guests show us so much love; this is our small holiday gift to the community, and I think our guests are going to love it!”
Several dueling piano shows are lined up during the pop-up’s run, and chef Brian Kennington is preparing a holiday menu with dishes like orange glazed, smoked duck with cranberry chutney and turkey leg confit with duck gravy. Cocktails such as cranberry mules and spiked eggnog are also planned.
