Tuza, the taco and Mexican street food restaurant owned by Jason Sherman, is open with limited hours on Howell Mill Road in Berkeley Park. The restaurant is only open for lunch, Tuesday through Friday while it awaits its liquor license. Dinner and brunch are expected to begin once the liquor license comes through, which Sherman expects to be the first week of December.
Currently, Tuza’s menu consists of a variety of tacos along with queso, guacamole, and chips and salsa. It’s likely the menu will expand as dinner and brunch are added. A sign board outside also includes daily specials. The grand opening is planned for December.
Take a look at the lunch menu:
Tuza occupies a freestanding building on the corner of Howell Mill Road and Berkeley Avenue, one mile south of I-75. Tuza seats 50 people inside and, once the weather warms up, will offer additional seating on the covered patio. Sherman was hoping to include a dog-friendly seating area in the fenced, grass lot next door, however, the neighborhood NPU may put the kibosh on that — there’s some discord over whether the fencing should be removed.
The Berkeley Park neighborhood is sandwiched between Northside Drive and Howell Mill Road. This particular stretch of Howell Mill, from Chattahoochee Avenue to Huff Road, is a restaurant dead zone, filled with more than its fair share of auto body shops. Flip Burger and Urban Tree Cidery on Howell Mill and Monday Night Brewing and Floral Park Market on Trabert Avenue are the only other local food and drink options along the corridor. Tuza is, no doubt, a welcome, walkable addition to the neighborhood.
Temporary hours: Tuesday - Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
