Kirkwood’s Urban Pie reopens following renovation
The neighborhood pizza joint on the corner of Hosea L Williams Drive and Kirkwood Road reopened last week after undergoing a massive renovation. Urban Pie, owned by Lisa Curtis, nearly quadrupled in size — going from 783 square feet to 3,000 square feet. It now includes a large patio and a horseshoe-shaped bar inside. Docent Coffee shop and roastery now open on Edgewood Avenue
Docent Coffee, which took over Cafe and Velo, opened its cafe and roastery at 381 Edgewood Avenue last week. The shop serves coffee made from the in-house roastery, tea, baked goods, and sandwiches. It’s open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Docent also offers monthly and yearly coffee memberships. [Official]
Gyu-Kaku is open at Atlantic Station
The Japanese-Korean barbecue chain Gyu-Kaku is now open in the former Copeland Cheesecake Bistro space. The menu features a variety of meats and vegetables cooked on smokeless roasters at each table. In addition to beer, Gyu-Kaku also offers sake and shochu on its beverage menu. [Official]
