The third location of Fifth Group Restaurant’s Ecco opens for dinner Tuesday, November 13, at the corner of Peachtree and Wieuca Roads in Buckhead on the edge of Phipps Plaza. Ecco, which also has locations in Midtown and at Hartsfield-Jackson airport, serves an amalgamation of European fare and wines, with a particular focus on Spain and Italy.
It’s been over two years since the restaurant-prolific Fifth Group made the Buckhead location announcement. In September, the group released renderings of the 240-seat restaurant with its 80-seat private dining room, seating for 50 on the patio, and a large oval bar.
Chef Andrea Montobbio (Pricci, STK Midtown) says he plans to keep some of Ecco’s most popular dishes (fried goat cheese balls) on the menu, with a few new additions like wagyu curado with artichokes and raviolo with a farm egg, delicata squash, and smoked ricotta. Ecco-Buckhead will eventually serve lunch.
Fifth Group isn’t finished opening more restaurants around Atlanta. A second location of their downtown Latin restaurant Alma Cocina opens next year at the former BrickTop’s space in Buckhead’s Terminus complex.
In addition to Ecco and Alma Cocina, Fifth Group owns several locations of South City Kitchen, Lure in Midtown, La Tavola in Virginia-Highland, and the Original El Taco in Virginia-Highland and at the airport.
