Alex and Jennifer Aton, the team behind pizza delivery pop-up Junior’s, will open their first restaurant in Summerhill next spring. Junior’s Pizza will be located at 77 Georgia Avenue and serve New York-style, thin crust pizzas, using ingredients like cup and char pepperoni — a small pepperoni which curls when cooked.
The menu for Junior’s includes the pop-up’s most popular pizzas, like the Sicilian pepperoni and spinach and mushroom, as well as a vegan sausage and pepperoni pizza, topped with spinach and basil. Beer and wine are also planned for the menu.
The Atons began their pizza delivery pop-up, inspired by pizzerias like Prince Street Pizza in New York’s East Village, to help fund their dream of owning their own restaurant. Pop-up dates at various venues around Atlanta are announced on Instagram, allowing customers to order pizzas in advance for pick-up or delivery. Alex, a former general manager at Fellini’s, bakes the pizzas, while Jennifer handles logistics and schedules deliveries.

Junior’s design, by DeCarlo Hawker, will be kept simple and feature “eclectic pizza-themed murals and artwork” from local Atlanta artists, and include indoor and outdoor seating.
“We had been looking for a space to open Junior’s as a permanent restaurant, but hadn’t found the right fit,” Alex Aton says. “Over the past few years, we’ve had our eye on all of the change that has been happening at Summerhill. We knew bringing Junior’s to all the exciting additions to Georgia Avenue would be a great opportunity.”

Junior’s future restaurant neighbors include Little Bear from Eat Me Speak Me chef Jarrett Stieber, Wood’s Chapel BBQ from the General Muir owners, a third location of Sarah O’Brien’s Little Tart Bakeshop and her new soft serve ice cream shop, Big Softie, another location of East Atlanta’s Hodgepodge Coffeehouse, and brewery Halfway Crooks.
Gato pop-up alum chef Parnass Lim Savang of Talat Market is opening his first restaurant next year on Ormond Street on the edge of the neighborhood.
