Recess, a “healthy-ish” food stall from the Castellucci Hospitality Group (Bar Mercado, Cooks & Soldiers, Double Zero), is opening at Krog Street Market on Monday, February 26.
The stall is located in the former Spotted Trotter space across from Gu’s Dumplings and in front of sister restaurant Bar Mercado. Chef Victoria Shore (Cooks & Soldiers, Double Zero, Bar Mercado) will head the kitchen.
Recess will focus on lighter, healthier dishes of mostly plant-based ingredients with a few meat and seafood options. Think grain bowls with barley, red quinoa, and eggplant-tahini puree, a shiitake and crimini mushroom patty with Swiss cheese, red cabbage, and mustard aioli on rye bread, or a lamb sandwich with minty pea mash, ricotta, and pickled fennel on ciabatta.
The beverage menu includes a small list of house cocktails, frozen cocktails, wine, and beer. Non-alcoholic options will also be available such as dtox juices, smoothies, kombucha, and tonics, like the turmeric tonic made with fresh turmeric, ginger, lemon, orange, peppercorn, and soda water.

Open Sunday - Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Weekend breakfast available on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
