A new pop-up called Koinonia Coffee ATL [koy-nohn-ee’-ah] in the Westview neighborhood is hoping to become a permanent fixture at D Cafe and Catering—if there’s enough interest from residents. The family-owned and operated cafe located at 1550 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard opened in 2009 and is known for its breakfast and lunch fare.

Koinonia Coffee ATL founder and Westview resident, Eduardo Lowe, had been speaking with D Cafe’s owner Devotis Lee about adding a coffee program to her restaurant. He then opened the discussion up to the neighborhood’s Facebook page in order to gauge interest and receive suggestions from residents on what they would like to see served.

Suggestions included offering various types of lattes, flat whites, and providing tea, smoothies, and cold brew coffee as well as grab-and-go food items such as fresh-baked scones. Many of those suggestions made it to Koinonia Coffee ATL’s opening menu (including the scones).

The pop-up is currently running now through Sunday, February 25 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. After Sunday, the pair will make a decision on whether to continue in a more permanent capacity or simply as an occasional pop-up.

Eater Atlanta will continue to follow any further developments.
