Eater Houston reported Friday Atlanta restaurant empire builder chef Ford Fry is opening a new bar named La Lucha in the same location as the forthcoming Houston outpost of his popular Tex-Mex spot Superica. This is good news for Fry’s Atlanta following traveling to “Space City”.
His new Houston bar, which will be housed separately from Superica, will serve a “Gulf-centric”, Texas-inspired menu. Both the bar and restaurant are expected to open this spring. Fry, who grew up in Houston, also owns the chic oyster bar and restaurant State of Grace.
Fry opened his first Atlanta Superica at Krog Street Market in 2015, followed by Buckhead located in the former Outback Steakhouse on Roswell Road a year later. The chef also owns JCT Kitchen & Bar, Marcel, Beetlecat, The El Felix at the Battery and in Alpharetta, King + Duke, St. Cecilia, No. 246, and The Optimist.
