Atlanta native chef Jared Hucks announced last July he would be opening The Alden at Chamblee’s Parkview on Peachtree development. It now seems the restaurant from the chef who founded fine dining supper club Dogwood Table is finally opening this spring.

The Alden, which means “old friend” in Old English and happens to be Hucks’s middle name, will serve American and Southern classics using in-season ingredients.

Natural elements such as Georgia limestone around the exterior and Earth tones and warm woods inside will be incorporated into the restaurant’s design. The 2300-square-foot interior will feature 74 seats spread throughout the dining room, bar, and patio as well as an 11-seat chef’s counter that overlooks the kitchen. Hucks’s brother, glass blower Rob Stern, has been commissioned to create The Alden’s art and lighting.

Hucks has worked in the kitchens at Vail Cascade Resort & Spa in Colorado, Guillaume at Bennelong at the Sydney Opera House, for Baan Rim Pa Restaurant Group in Phuket, Thailand, two-Michelin-star restaurant Noma in Copenhagen, and Bacchanalia in Atlanta.

“After two decades of cooking in great restaurants here in the states and abroad, I’ve returned to serve my hometown community,” Hucks says of opening The Alden. “I want our diners to feel at home. This is a relaxed environment with friendly service and great food where our guests can dine in comfort.”
