New Roswell whiskey bar will carry 1000 whiskies
A new bar and restaurant called The Whiskey Project is set to open in Roswell by early May, according to the AJC. It will be located at 45 Oak Street in the former Oak Street Cafe space. While there will be food, like jalapeño polenta cakes, pickled beet salad, or pan-roasted salmon, it’s the bar that’s the star here. Whiskey Project plans to offer 25 cocktails and reportedly an overwhelming amount of whiskey— close to 1000 types. [AJC]
Southern comfort food heads to Brookhaven
Alpharetta’s Secreto Southern Kitchen & Bar is opening a second outpost later this spring at Brookleigh Marketplace in Brookhaven. The restaurant, located at 3575 Durden Drive, will take over the space formerly occupied by Fiorello’s Italian Bistro. Secreto will seat 86 inside and 50 more diners on its patio. Expect food to lean toward Southern comfort like fried chicken, grilled lemon basil jumbo shrimp, and seared pork belly with wild mushroom risotto. [Official]
Blu Cantina opening seems imminent in East Atlanta
It seems the opening of East Atlanta Village’s latest restaurant could be any day now. Blu Cantina, which takes over the now closed Tomatillos space on Glenwood Avenue, teased followers with their (re)opening on Facebook. The building is getting a bit of a refresh; including a new paint job. Blu Cantina suddenly closed last summer in Castleberry Hill after the roof collapsed following heavy rain. [Facebook]
Butcher shop The Spotted Trotter may be relocating
According to What Now Atlanta, the butcher shop owned by chef Kevin Ouzts and his wife Megan may be moving from its current location on Hosea L. Williams to 229 Moreland Avenue SE into the old Tippens Appliances and Furniture spot. Apparently, rumors have been swirling about the shop’s relocation since late last year. The couple closed the second outpost of The Spotted Trotter and their restaurant Cockentrice at Krog Street Market in 2016. [WNA]
