Doraville Water Main Break Temporarily Closes Some Restaurants

A water main break just north of I-285 in Doraville is causing major flooding along a stretch of Buford Highway in Dekalb County. The break occurred in a 48-inch transmission main around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday at 5718 Buford Highway NE.

Some businesses along this stretch of Buford Highway are reporting flooding. The break is also causing loss of water and water pressure throughout portions of Dekalb County including parts of Chamblee, the Emory area, Toco Hills, Tucker, and city of Decatur. Several area restaurants have been forced to close temporarily due to lack of water or water pressure.

While Dekalb County is under a boil water advisory, Dekalb restaurants who receive their water from City of Atlanta are not affected by the break or the advisory.

Update: Water has been restored to most of Dekalb County. Many area restaurants are reopening for dinner and are following the Georgia Department of Health water interruption procedures. Please call ahead.
